PROPERTY/CASUALTY INSURANCE SALES AGENT
DescriptionYou will be an Insurance Sales Agent (Independent Contractor) working exclusively for Northern Finnish Mutual Insurance.
You will help individuals, families, and businesses select insurance that provides the best protection against financial loss resulting from automobile accidents, fire, wind, and other events that can damage property. You will need to maintain policyholder records. In the event that policyholders experience a loss, you are asked to obtain the initial information so the claim can be processed in a timely manner.
Your computer will be used to connect to the Agent Access area of the Northern Finnish Mutual website, making the tasks of obtaining price quotes and processing applications and service requests faster and easier. You will devote time to marketing and selling insurance to new clients. You will also obtain new accounts through referrals, so it is important that you maintain regular contact with your clients to ensure that the clients’ financial needs are being met. Developing a satisfied clientele that will recommend an agent’s services to other potential customers is a key to success for agents.
Accessible for clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is not uncommon. The agent will handle routine tasks such as answering questions, making changes in policies, taking pictures, obtaining claims information, and selling insurance to clients.
Current Agents generally operate the business out of their home. However, much of the time is spent outside the office, traveling locally to meet with clients, take pictures, close sales, or obtain claims information. You will determine your own hours of work and may often schedule evening and weekend appointments for the convenience of clients. Sometimes you may meet with clients during business hours and then spend evenings doing paperwork and preparing quotes to prospective clients.
You should be flexible, enthusiastic, confident, disciplined, hard working, and willing to solve problems. You should communicate effectively and inspire customer confidence. And because you usually work without supervision, you must be able to plan your time well and have the initiative to locate new clients.
